Only a few more months until we say good-bye to 2016 and hello to another new year. I know I'm not the only one excited to start another year specifically because of all the super awesome movies that are set to come out. Here are 20 of the most anticipated movies of 2017 as well as their release dates so you can mark your calendars and get your costumes ready for those premieres!

1. Beauty and the Beast: March 17

Little is known about the film, and until two days ago, only two photos had been released. The trailer is one of the most ambiguous I have ever seen, but this star studded cast is sure to deliver! This is the first live-action disney adaptation of a princess film where they will keep the musical aspect, and it stars Emma Watson, Luke Evans, Dan Stevens, Josh Gad, Ewan McGregor, and Ian McKellen.

2. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2: May 5

Not much is known about the plot of this film either, other than that it is set a few months after the first movie and revolves around Star-Lord discovering more about his parentage.

Here's the sneak peak that we have!

3. Kingsman: The Golden Circle: June 16

I am very very very very excited about this sequel set to come out. Kingsman, the secret agency located in London, team up with Statesman, their US equivalent, to save the world. Taron Egerton and Collin Firth will be returning, and Halle Berry will be joining the cast as well.

No official trailer has been released yet, so don't even try watching the ones on YouTube that are fanmade.

4. Thor: Ragnarok: November 3

This movie will be one of the best of the year, and the last of the MCU to be released in 2017. To learn more about Thor: Ragnarok, click here.

5.Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales: May 26

Yet another Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I love it.

6. Spider-Man: Homecoming: July 7

Spider-Man killed it with his role in Captain America: Civil War. I know I'm not the only one excited to see his portal this year, and with the pictures that have been released, it looks like it will be good! It would be the first movie since 2008 in the MCU to not do well in the box office, and it's feasible to assume that that won't be the case.

Here's a great video on everything we know so far, since a trailer for this film is yet to be released.

7. Despicable Me 3: June 30

The family friendly franchise has is being brought back for yet another sequel. Steve Carrel's character Gru meets his long lost twin brother, Dru, which ensues in a sibling rivalry while facing off against a bizarre grown up child star.

Once again, there's no trailer released, so here is a video with a little more information on this movie.

8. The Lego Batman Movie: February 10

After the success of The Lego Movie in 2014, it was inevitable that they would capitalize on that. The actors involved and the comedic genius that is Lego will make this one of the best movies of the 2017 year.

9. Pitch Perfect 3: December 22

If you're ready to get pitch slapped for the third time, you only have to wait until December! Of all the movies coming out in 2017, this is the one we know the least about, but get ready for lots of singing with the characters you know and love.

10. Justice League: November 17

The two DC films to come out this year, Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad, performed very well in the box office due to the obsession with superhero movies from Marvel Studios. However, Batman v Superman was one of the worst movies I have seen all year, but Suicide Squad was fantastic with only a few lackluster performances in the cast.

Justice League will follow up Wonder Woman, which will hopefully have great acting, storylines, and directing. I'm apprehensive about this film after how much I hated Batman v Superman, so we will see...

11. World War Z 2: June 9

A sequel to 2013's World War Z will be available in a theater near you this coming June. That's the theory, anyway, as release dates often change when production hasn't even started on this film and negotiations for a new director are in order. But if you were a fan of the first film, sources say that this franchise is meant to be a trilogy as long as this sequel performs well!

12. Star Wars Episode VIII: December 9

Yayyyyy more Star Wars! Rogue One comes out this December, and then a year later, the next installment in the franchise will be released. Not much is released currently other than speculative news stories, but hopefully we will receive some sort of trailer soon!

13. Kong: Skull Island: March 10

Tom Hiddleston, one of the best actors in Hollywood, is staring in yet another King Kong remake. Samuel L. Jackson also stars in the upcoming film, and with stars of this caliber, it should be a fantastic film.

14. Logan: March 3

The third Wolverine movie to come out since the original X-Man franchise finished up, and Logan is helping children born with the mutant gene. The movie is set in 2024 and taking place after the X-Men: Apocolypse film. Should be super interesting

15. War for the Planet of the Apes: July 1

Another Planet of the Apes movie! See it in theaters this summer.

Here's the official teaser trailer.

16. Cars 3: June 16

ANOTHER CARS FILM! People of all ages should be excited for this one.

17. Divergent Series: Ascendent: June 9

This film is highly anticipated, but perhaps won't make it to theaters. Budget cuts were present after Allegent didn't do as well in the box office and rumors are spinning about Shailene Woodley. Keep your eye out for this film if it does happen to come out, since I've personally enjoyed each one in this franchise.

18. Transformers: The Last Knight: June 23

Yet another Transformers film is coming out. Watch it and weep (either tears of joy or disappointment depending on your love for this franchise).

19. Wonder Woman: June 9

As of yesterday, we have a Wonder Woman trailer!! This is the first superhero film for a woman (not as a supporting character) and I am excited to see the portrayal of one of the first female superheros.

I'm just gonna post the trailer for this one here, because I am excited to see how this all comes together. And Chris Pine is perfect.

20. The Greatest Showman on Earth: December 25

You have Hugh Jackman, Zac Efron, and Zendaya starring in one of the only musicals to be released in 2017. Not much is yet known about this musical, other than that the plot revolves around the founder of the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. MIKA is in talks for writing some of the music, and if that goes through we could have one of the best musicals new musicals that I'll have seen in years on-screen!

I know what you're thinking about that list-

So there you have it, the most anticipated films of the 2017 year! If there were any movies you've heard of that should be included in the list, say so in the comments below.
